Easy Trails

Shafer Trail

Shafer Trail offers an incredible combination of spectacular scenery and fascinating history, all accessible without extreme technical driving challenges. This historic route connects Canyonlands National Park with the Colorado River and Moab, featuring some of the most dramatic views in the Southwest.

The trail begins at the Island in the Sky district of Canyonlands and descends over 1,500 feet through a series of breathtaking switchbacks carved into the red rock cliffs. While not technically difficult, the exposure and views can be both exhilarating and intimidating for those uncomfortable with heights.

Gemini Bridges

The Gemini Bridges trail offers a perfect introduction to Moab off-roading, combining easy driving conditions with spectacular scenery and natural wonders. This family-friendly route provides access to one of the area's most distinctive geological features—twin natural rock bridges spanning a deep canyon.

The trail follows a well-maintained dirt road with gentle hills and minimal technical challenges, making it perfect for first-time off-roaders. The route climbs gradually to provide expansive views of the surrounding landscape before arriving at the namesake bridges.

Fins and Things

Fins and Things is one of Moab's signature trails, perfect for those looking to experience classic slickrock terrain without extreme technical challenges. Located just minutes from downtown Moab in the Sand Flats Recreation Area, this trail offers the perfect introduction to off-road driving with plenty of exciting moments.

The trail features rolling slickrock "fins" that give it its name, creating a roller-coaster-like experience as you traverse the undulating terrain. You'll encounter moderate climbs and descents, with several spots that offer spectacular views of the La Sal Mountains and surrounding desert landscape.

Chicken Corners

The Chicken Corners trail offers a wonderful full-day adventure combining easy driving with some of the most spectacular scenery in the Moab area. This extended route follows the Colorado River before climbing into the canyons to reach an impressive overlook of the river from above.

The trail begins with Kane Creek Road, following the Colorado River south of Moab. As you progress, the terrain transitions from paved road to dirt tracks winding through beautiful canyon country.

Hell's Revenge

Hell's Revenge is one of Moab's most famous and photographed trails, offering steep climbs, heart-pounding descents, and optional extreme challenges. Located in the Sand Flats Recreation Area, this trail features iconic obstacles and breathtaking viewpoints that have made it a must-do for off-road enthusiasts.

The trail consists primarily of steep slickrock climbs and descents with several optional obstacles for more adventurous drivers. You'll navigate across expanses of petrified sand dunes, following the distinctive white dotted line trail markers painted directly on the rock.

Poison Spider Mesa

Poison Spider Mesa offers a challenging adventure combining technical obstacles, sand, slickrock, and incredible views. This popular trail northwest of Moab provides a true test of off-road driving skills while rewarding adventurers with some of the area's most spectacular vistas.

The trail begins with a challenging climb up loose rocks and sand before transitioning to a mix of slickrock and sandy sections across the mesa top. You'll navigate technical obstacles including the infamous "Wedgie" and "The Waterfall," both of which require careful tire placement and vehicle control.

For the safety of our customers and protection of our vehicles, certain extreme trails in the Moab area are off-limits for our rental vehicles. These trails feature obstacles that present high risk of vehicle damage or require specialized equipment and expert driving experience.

Behind the Rocks

Behind the Rocks is an extremely challenging trail featuring massive rock obstacles that require specialized equipment and expert driving skills. Due to the high risk of vehicle damage, this trail is prohibited for all rental vehicles.

The trail includes infamous obstacles like White Knuckle Hill, Upchuck Hill, and High Dive, all of which present serious challenges even for highly modified vehicles with experienced drivers.

Pritchett Canyon

Pritchett Canyon is considered one of the most challenging trails in the Moab area, featuring massive rock obstacles, tight squeezes, and extremely technical driving sections. Due to the guaranteed risk of vehicle damage, this trail is strictly prohibited for all rental vehicles.

The infamous obstacles include Rocker Knocker, Axle Hill, and The Rock Pile—all of which regularly cause damage even to purpose-built rock crawling vehicles.

Golden Spike

Golden Spike is an extremely challenging trail that connects Poison Spider Mesa with Gold Bar Rim. This advanced trail features significant technical obstacles including Golden Crack, Golden Stairs, and Double Whammy that require precise vehicle control and expert driving skills. Due to the high likelihood of vehicle damage, this trail is prohibited for all rental vehicles.

Moab Rim

Moab Rim trail features a steep, technical climb up the cliff face immediately west of Moab. The trail begins with an extremely challenging ascent known as "The Devil's Crack" featuring loose rocks, significant traction challenges, and high-consequence driving. Due to the advanced nature of this climb and risk of vehicle damage, this trail is prohibited for all rental vehicles.

Area BFE

Area BFE is a private off-road park featuring multiple extreme trails and obstacles designed specifically for highly modified vehicles. Many of the obstacles in Area BFE are built or enhanced to challenge even purpose-built rock crawling rigs. Due to the guaranteed risk of vehicle damage, all trails within Area BFE are prohibited for our rental vehicles.

Rusty Nail

Rusty Nail is an extension of the Gold Bar Rim trail featuring extreme rock obstacles including The Waterfall, High Dive, and The Diving Board. These obstacles present severe challenges requiring specialized equipment, significant vehicle modifications, and expert driving experience. Due to the extreme nature of these obstacles and high risk of vehicle damage, this trail is prohibited for all rental vehicles.
